The day is packed for all ages. Kids can hit the water slides, get their faces painted, pile onto train rides, and snack on snow cones and cotton candy. Meanwhile, the grown-ups can browse the food trucks, catch some live music, and check out the car show, which welcomes cars, trucks, and motorcycles. There's even volleyball to join in on. Bring a chair, grab the family, and settle in to close out the summer in style.

What to Expect at So Cal Summerfest

Summerfest is built around one simple goal: a full day of fun that costs nothing and works for every age. Here's what you'll find spread across the lawns and around the amphitheater at Town Square Park:

  • Water Slides -- Cool off on the water slides, the surest way to win over kids of every age on a warm September morning.
  • Face Painting -- Transformation stations where little ones can leave with a butterfly cheek, a superhero mask, or whatever the brush dreams up.
  • Train Rides -- Mini train rides that loop through the park, a perennial favorite for the youngest festival-goers.
  • Snow Cones & Cotton Candy -- Classic festival sweets, cold and sticky and exactly what a summer day calls for.
  • Food Trucks -- A lineup of food trucks so the whole family can grab lunch without leaving the fun behind.
  • Live Music -- Local acts performing all afternoon and setting the soundtrack for the day.
  • Volleyball -- Pickup games for anyone who wants to move between bites and beats.

Add sunshine and people-watching, and you have the recipe for the kind of afternoon kids talk about for weeks.

Free, Right in the Heart of Murrieta

The best part? The event and parking are both completely free, and it all happens right at Town Square in the heart of Murrieta.

Tips for a Great Day at the Festival

A little preparation goes a long way toward a perfect afternoon. Here's what we suggest before you head to Town Square Park:

Bring Chairs and Blankets

The park has plenty of grass and shaded walkways, but seating is on you. Pack fold-up chairs or a blanket so everyone has a comfy spot to watch the music and the car show.

Arrive Early

The event runs 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the first couple of hours are often the mellowest for little ones. Getting there early also means you'll grab the best spot on the grass.

Parking Is Free

Free parking makes Summerfest an easy yes for a spontaneous family outing. Give yourself a few extra minutes to find a spot near the park and walk in.

Wear Sunscreen

September in Murrieta can still feel like August. Sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses will keep the whole family comfortable through the afternoon.

Pack for the Kids

If your kids plan to hit the water slides, pack a towel and a change of clothes. A small backpack with water bottles, snacks, and maybe a little cash for the food trucks covers most contingencies.

What to Know About Murrieta Town Square Park

Summerfest takes place at Town Square Park & Amphitheater, a 4.2-acre community space in the heart of Murrieta at 11 Town Square, CA 92562. The park centers on a grassy amphitheater where the music stage and the car show set up, surrounded by open lawns and shaded walkways that give families plenty of room to spread out.

It's also one of the city's great gathering places. Town Square Park hosts free family events all year long, from holiday celebrations to the summer Concerts in the Park series, when locals pack the lawn with chairs and blankets on Saturday evenings. Summerfest is one of its liveliest afternoons of the year.

The park sits near Old Town Murrieta, so many families turn the trip into a full day out. For more ideas on building a Saturday around your visit, browse our Things to Do guide, and keep an eye on our Community Events calendar for the next free happening on the square.

Why Free Community Events Matter for Murrieta Families

Events like Summerfest matter for a simple reason: they make community life available to everyone. No ticket price, no budget barrier, just a grassy park, a Saturday afternoon, and neighbors saying hello. For families watching their spending, a free day out with the kids is a real gift.

They also introduce people to the heart of the city. Not everyone who lives in Murrieta has spent an afternoon at Town Square Park, and a festival is the perfect excuse to discover it. You'll run into classmates, coworkers, and probably a few people who live three doors down.

Mostly, free events like Summerfest remind us why families choose Murrieta in the first place: a safe, friendly, community-first city where there is always something to do together. It is one of the reasons we are proud to call this home, and one more reason to love living here.

Show Your Ride at the Summerfest Car Show

Want to show your ride? Car, truck, and motorcycle entries are open, but spots are limited, so early sign-up is encouraged. There will be prizes for participants, and they fill up fast. Reach out to the organizer to get your entry in before it's too late.

How to Enter Your Car, Truck, or Motorcycle

If you'd rather show off your ride than admire everyone else's, Summerfest wants you. The car show welcomes cars, trucks, and motorcycles, and entries are registered by email. Spots are limited and prizes are awarded, so it pays to get your entry in early.

Vehicle Registration

  • Email your entry to info@orchardchurch.life with your vehicle details.
  • Spots are limited, so the earlier you email, the better your chances of securing a place.
  • Prizes are awarded to participants, so bring your best shine and your owner's pride.
