What makes SCEGA stand out?
SCEGA's results over three decades have made it a destination for gymnastics families across Southern California. According to the gym, its competitive programs have helped more than 60 athletes earn full NCAA athletic scholarships, and its alumni include Junior Olympic national team members, U.S. national team members, and a world championships medalist in Rachel Tidd (2001). In 2026, SCEGA sent 14 gymnasts to the USA Gymnastics national championships, its largest group of Level 10 qualifiers in gym history.
The gym's boys team has been named the Southern California compulsory program of the year for levels 4 through 6. The girls optional team is led by Chris Waller, a 1992 U.S. Olympic team member, former U.S. all-around champion, and former UCLA head coach.
What is the SCEGA Cal Classic?
SCEGA also hosts the SCEGA Cal Classic, a large annual women's gymnastics invitational meet that draws clubs and gymnasts from across the country. Recent editions have been held at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, with athletes competing from Level 2 through Level 10 and all XCEL levels.
